What are anonymous casinos?

An anonymous crypto casino is an online gambling site where you can use cryptocurrency to play games without giving out any of your personal info. These types of casinos are not part of the 'high street' gambling space — nope! They're designed to keep your identity a secret… or at least as low-key as possible.

Usually, when you play at an online casino, you have to give out your name, address, phone number, and payment details. But with an anonymous crypto casino, all you need is a crypto wallet address to deposit and withdraw funds.

This means you can gamble without anyone knowing who you are since crypto wallets are not connected to your personal identity.

The benefits of gambling at anonymous casinos

Playing at a crypto casino offers advantages that I’ve found nowhere else. These unique benefits come from the decentralized nature of cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology:

1. Full anonymity and privacy

One of the biggest perks of crypto casinos is the anonymity and privacy they offer. Unlike traditional online casinos that require personal information for registration and transactions, I can gamble anonymously at crypto casinos.

This safeguards my identity and financial information, giving me peace of mind. Plus, registration at crypto gambling sites requires only an email address, which I can create in less than a minute.

2. Lightning-fast transactions

With cryptocurrencies, transactions are processed at a pretty high speed, significantly faster than traditional banking methods. However, it will still depend on the coin you use for gambling and the network you use for transactions. For example, the Bitcoin Lightning Network is designed for instantaneous transactions.

This means more time spent playing and less time spent waiting.

Quick note: When it comes to withdrawals, crypto casinos have to process and check your withdrawal request. This might take some time — a couple of hours tops. A good thing is that many crypto casinos, like BC.Game Casino, will show you this info in a note.

3. No restrictions means global access

Crypto casinos are accessible to players worldwide, free from geographical boundaries or regulatory restrictions. This unrestricted access opens up a world of opportunities for me, even in regions where online gambling is prohibited or heavily regulated.

No matter where I am, I can enjoy my favorite games with ease.

4. Minimal fees

Traditional online casinos often impose fees on transactions (from 1% to 3% per transaction), eating into my winnings. In contrast, crypto casinos typically have minimal or no fees for deposits and withdrawals, allowing me to maximize my earnings.

Deposits are always free of fees when it comes to crypto casinos. For withdrawals, only some casinos offer zero-fee transactions. A good example is the Betplay.io gambling site that allows me to use Bitcoin Lightning Network and withdraw without fees.

5. Provably fair gaming

Blockchain technology enables Bitcoin casinos to offer provably fair gaming. This ensures transparency and fairness in every game. Best of all, I can independently verify the integrity of game outcomes.

Finding Provably Fair games is easy as well. Many crypto casinos feature these games in a dedicated section. Here’s how it’s done on Cloudbet casino:

6. Exclusive crypto bonuses

Many crypto casinos offer exclusive bonuses and promotions. Some crypto casinos have special bonuses only for certain coins, like Ethereum or Bitcoin. But in general, the best crypto gambling sites allow you to get bonus funds in the coin you deposited with.

For example, I’m depositing BNB and want to claim a 100% deposit bonus - the casino will couple my BNB so I can gamble with it. I know this sounds a bit odd, but getting your own coin in bonus funds isn’t always implied.

Web3 wallets for anonymous gambling

When it comes to gambling anonymously, having a secure web3 wallet is key. A web3 wallet, or a crypto wallet, is a digital or physical device that keeps your private keys safe. These keys are essential for accessing and managing your cryptocurrencies and other blockchain assets.

... having a secure web3 wallet is key.

Each wallet creates a unique private key, which is like a secret code that lets you access your funds and assets. This private key is the only way to move your digital assets, making it crucial for keeping your gambling money secure and your identity private.

Web3 wallets also help establish your digital identity. Consider it like this: in the web3 space, your wallet is your identity. All web3 wallets have 12-word private keys. So, basically, these 12 words are your whole identity.

What crypto casino doesn’t require ID?

The whole thing about requiring an ID for gambling is about checking if the person is of the legal age for gambling. But how could you check someone’s age and identity if they use a crypto wallet for gambling and nothing else?

Well, some online crypto casinos use a thing called KYC. Quite simply, KYC - or “Know Your Customer” - is the process by which a business or organization finds out information about its customers. More importantly, KYC is a way to verify the identity of customers to prevent fraud. Now, online casinos holding licenses from UKGC and MGA are legally required to implement KYC checks.

The exact KYC requirements vary from license to license, but since most casinos hold Curaçao licenses, I'll focus on these regulations. Any casino holding a valid Curaçao license must comply with the Regulations for Anti-Money Laundering and Combating the Financing of Terrorism.

KYC requirements

  • Player identification: Verifying the identities of players, which includes collecting and verifying official ID documents, such as passports or driver’s permits.
  • Enhanced due diligence: High-rollers making larger transactions undergo more rigorous checks and ongoing monitoring.
  • Record keeping: Crypto casinos must keep comprehensive records of player transactions (plus KYC documents) for a specified period (not more than a year).
  • Reporting of suspicious activity: Casinos must report any suspicious transactions or player behavior to relevant authorities.
  • Staff training: Casino staff must receive adequate training on AML (Anti-Money Laundering) regulations and procedures to identify and report any suspicious player activity.
  • Customer awareness: Casinos must educate players about responsible gambling and problem gambling behavior.

I’ll go out on a limb here and say that I doubt most crypto casinos would choose to implement KYC checks if it weren’t mandatory. It’s not a simple process, and it’s time-consuming for everyone involved.

But the matter isn’t really up for debate - licensed online casinos are legally required to implement KYC checks.

No-KYC crypto casinos

There are some crypto casinos that don’t require ID, often referred to as no-KYC casinos. These casinos allow us to play without going through the lengthy verification process. While this might sound like a dream come true, it’s important to consider whether these no-KYC casinos are safe.

From my experience, many such casinos operate responsibly and provide a secure environment for players. However, it's crucial to check and ensure these gambling sites have a good reputation and solid security measures.

Some safe no-KYC casinos I've tried include:

Stake 2017 SSL encryption, Cloudflare Curacao
FortuneJack 2014 2FA, Cloudflare, Secure network topology Curacao
