Lightning Roulette

We’ve got Evolution Gaming to thank for this high-octane variant that’s present at most cryptocasinos. Based on traditional European Roulette playing rules with some differences in payouts, Lightning Roulette became popular thanks to a thrilling twist:

Before each spin, up to five numbers are struck by lightning and given increased payouts from 35x up to anything between 50x and 500x. These multipliers are only applied to Straight Up bets.

Buy-ins start at $0.20, so it’s not ideal for very low-rollers. If you’re one, you’re better off choosing a title like Pragmatic Play’s Stake Roulette, where you can place $0.01 wagers. However, the payouts in this version are slightly reduced to 29:1 for Straight Up bets - in regular variants it’s 35:1. This pushes the house edge up to 2.9% from the standard 2.7%. The reasoning is that it balances things out in case you hit a huge multiplier, so you don’t wipe out all the casino’s profits with one win.

So let’s say you put down a Straight Up bet on the max bet; theoretically, you could walk away with $1,450,000 in profit. But let’s be realistic - the house edge isn’t exactly favourable for this.
