Navigate to base.app and click on Continue on Web if you want to use it on desktop or Download app to install it on your mobile device. If you choose the latter, you’ll see a QR code that you can scan with your phone. You can also find the Base App directly in the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
For this guide, we’ll set up the wallet on an iPhone 15 Pro.
Once you’ve installed the Base App, open it. You can create your wallet account using several sign-up methods, including an email address, a Google or Apple account or a recovery phrase. The recovery phrase option should be available under More Options.
Pick your preferred method and follow the instructions. Depending on your location and sign-up method, you may also be asked to enter a referral code. You can later customize your wallet settings from your profile, including notification preferences and your username.
Here, the setup process depends on the sign-up method you chose. If you picked the recovery phrase sign-up method, you’ll now receive a 12-word phrase that you must keep somewhere safe. After that, you have to create a password of at least 8 characters and 1 number. We went for Google sign-up, so we didn’t get a recovery phrase at this point, nor were we asked to create a password.
Once your wallet is set up, you can add crypto to it. You can buy crypto with fiat directly through your wallet, or transfer funds from an exchange or another crypto wallet. When you click Add funds, you get these two options: transfer funds from your Coinbase exchange account or transfer them from another crypto wallet.
