How We Rate Our Crypto Casinos

We review crypto casinos so you don’t have to gamble on a bad one. Every site listed on CryptoCasinos.com goes through a structured evaluation across 9+ different criteria before we publish anything about it. Our process is the same whether we’re covering a newly launched platform or revisiting a site that’s been around for years. This page explains exactly what we look at, how we weigh each factor, and what causes us to flag or remove a casino entirely.

Who Does the Reviewing

The 150+ reviews on our site are written and maintained by a team with direct experience in crypto gambling, iGaming compliance and software. Reviewers create real accounts, deposit real funds and test the platform from the ground up. No review is based on marketing materials or operator-supplied content alone.

When a reviewer's assessment conflicts with feedback we're seeing from players, we investigate. Our final ratings reflect both our own testing and documented user experience.

How We Test Each Casino

Before any rating is assigned, we go through a consistent testing process.

We start by registering an account under normal conditions, with no preferential treatment and no special access. We deposit using at least one supported cryptocurrency, play a range of games and attempt a withdrawal. We time each stage. We contact customer support at least once, through at least two channels where available, and we note response times and the quality of answers.

For casinos that advertise no-KYC or anonymous play, we test whether those claims hold up in practice, both at deposit and, more importantly, at withdrawal.

We also review licensing documents, check the casino's ownership history and look at the complaint record across third-party forums and dispute platforms. A clean record matters. So does how a casino handles disputes when things go wrong.

Our Rating Criteria

We score casinos across eight areas. Below is what each one covers and why it's in our methodology.

A license tells us a regulator was satisfied at the time of approval. It doesn't tell us how an operator behaves month to month. We look into the ownership structure behind the license, the regulator's track record of enforcement and whether the casino has faced sanctions or player fund issues since launching. Responsible gambling tools factor in here too, specifically whether they work as advertised or exist mainly to satisfy a checkbox.
This is the most practical test we run. We submit a real withdrawal, time it from request to receipt and compare that against what the casino claims. We also look at what's happening behind the scenes: confirmation requirements, internal review thresholds and whether certain withdrawal amounts trigger delays that aren't disclosed anywhere. How a casino handles money leaving the platform tells you more about it than almost anything else.
We check what's actually implemented, not what's listed on the security page. That means verifying two-factor authentication works, understanding how player balances are held and looking at whether the operator has had any reported incidents. We also look at whether responsible gambling controls are accessible and functional; the kind a player could realistically use in a moment of need, not just find after ten minutes of searching.
Provably fair is one of crypto gambling's most meaningful features and one of the most inconsistently applied. We check whether the mechanism is auditable by the player or just referenced in the documentation. For games that don't support it, we verify third-party RNG certification and check how current those certifications are. The gap between "provably fair" in a marketing headline and a working verification tool is wider than most players realize.
We look at depth, not just breadth. Any casino can list twenty coins. What matters is whether the infrastructure behind them is solid. We assess the quality of the supported networks, transaction limits, whether Web3 wallet connections work cleanly and whether the platform has built anything useful around the crypto experience or just bolted on a payment layer.
We pay particular attention here because this is one of the most misrepresented areas in the segment. We run through the full account lifecycle (sign-up, deposit, withdrawal at various amounts) and document exactly when and why verification is requested. Casinos that advertise anonymous play but trigger identity checks at withdrawal thresholds that aren't disclosed upfront are flagged. The test isn't what the FAQ says. It's what happens when you try to cash out.
We work through the full terms rather than the banner numbers. Wagering requirements, game contribution rates, time limits, bet caps during bonus play and maximum cashout limits all affect the real value of an offer significantly. We also look past the welcome package: reload frequency, cashback structures and how the VIP program works in practice for players who stay beyond the first deposit.
Total game count is a starting point, not a conclusion. We look at how many distinct studios supply the catalog, what categories are covered and whether the library has been built with any real curation or is simply the output of bulk aggregation. Live dealer availability and schedule, crash game selection and whether table game variants go beyond the basics all factor into this score.
We test the platform as a player would use it: on desktop and on mobile, across the full account journey from registration to withdrawal. For support, we run real conversations, not just a quick chat to confirm someone responds. We look at whether agents can actually resolve issues or whether the default response is to open a ticket and wait. The quality of answers matters as much as how fast they arrive.

What Gets a Casino Flagged or Removed

Some issues disqualify a casino outright, or cause us to add a warning to an existing listing.

Delayed or refused withdrawals without documented justification are the most serious signal we track. We monitor complaint channels and act when a pattern emerges. A single complaint doesn't automatically result in a flag, but volume, type and how the operator responds all factor in.

Other reasons we flag or remove a site:

  • Misleading bonus terms that don't match the advertised conditions
  • KYC used as a mechanism to freeze or deny legitimate withdrawals
  • Unlicensed operation in jurisdictions where a license is required
  • Documented history of player fund losses due to operator conduct
  • Confirmed ownership by operators who have defrauded players elsewhere

When we remove a casino, we note why. We don't quietly delete listings. You can find more information on our blacklisted casinos page.

How Often We Update

A review published two years ago may not reflect how a casino operates today. We revisit ratings on a rolling schedule and update when we identify material changes. These may include new ownership, a licensing change, a shift in withdrawal behavior or a significant volume of new complaints.

If you've had an experience with a casino that contradicts what our review says, contact us. We investigate reports that come with documented evidence.

Editorial Independence

We earn revenue through affiliate partnerships. When you sign up at a casino through a link on this site, we may receive a commission. That relationship does not influence our ratings.

Casinos cannot pay for higher scores, better placement in category rankings or the removal of negative notes from their reviews.

Our revenue model depends on readers trusting what we publish. A recommendation that sends someone to a bad casino destroys that trust. So does a methodology page that promises independence we don't actually practice.
