Stake Review (2024)

Stake is a name and logo you may have seen before. The casino has gone to great lengths to market its casino on many different platforms in the past couple of years. This tactic has come with great success and they’re bringing in a huge amount of new players every month. It’s an all-out crypto casino that offers more than 130 different options for transacting coins on the site. There are even options for FIAT money transactions if you use the exchange to crypto service that Stake themselves provide. They have a great reputation in the casino world, but why? What’s the secret behind their success and why are players choosing to play on their site over the other good casino options out there? These are questions that we ask ourselves at CryptoCasinos and we shall not rest until they have been answered!

First impressions

The company Stake was launched back in 2017. The casino is pretty much solely a crypto casino but has in more recent times implemented the option of FIAT money conversions to crypto directly on the site. There are more than 130 different options for cryptocurrencies that can be used in the casino. We’re going to cover the banking options more extensively later.

Stake has a gaming license from Curacao. The license is a standard gaming license that you need to apply for in order to obtain and requires you to follow laws from the country that has issued it. We find that crypto-focused casinos sometimes don’t bother with the process of obtaining a casino gaming license. This gives us the impression that Stake is trying to do things the right way and adds to their already pretty good status of being a legitimate casino. The license does however restrict players from some countries from playing in the casino.

To sign up on Stake you need to enter an email address, username, password, and your date of birth. At this point, you’re also asked to enter a bonus code if you have one. Once this process has been completed your account is made and you’re ready to make your first deposit before playing in the casino.

Part of the key to their success may be the aggressive approach to marketing. You can find their ads pretty much everywhere. On social media, as one of the key sponsors inside the UFC octagon and even on live streams. The latter has been one of their key strategies where they recruit streamers on the platform Twitch. These streamers are seen to be playing on Stake around the clock and are doing an excellent job at showcasing the games library of the site. Seeing as this strategy may be costly and require some capital, we can safely assume that the creators behind Stake are somewhat experienced visionaries and not amateurs. They have successfully taken over more and more of the casino grounds at a steady pace and show no signs of slowing down in their endeavor to become the biggest in the business.

Being big comes with a couple of benefits for the players. Support is offered 24/7 via live chat or you can reach them through their email: support@stake.com. The website can be translated and read in 15 different languages.

Stake has implemented an option for 2-step verification on their website. In short, when logging on to your account or making a transaction you’ll be asked to verify it’s you by entering two codes. The most common avenues of receiving these codes are getting one to your phone and another to your email. This makes it next to impossible to get hacked and adds greatly to the security of your account and its balance.

The website’s layout feels simple but in a good way. The dark blue theme is nice on the eyes and there’s no overload of games on the start page. Instead, you need to use the menu on the left side to navigate between the different sections of games. The two big categories of games offered are:

  • Casino
  • Sports

When entering the casino section of Stake you are immediately greeted by neat lists of games, categories, and providers. The first thing to catch our eye here is the list of “Stake originals”. These are games made by the site themselves and are a section that we’ve grown used to seeing more often as of late inside casinos. Some of these original games are crash, dice, and plinko. It’s truly an easy-to-navigate interface. The sports section is equally extensive and both categories deserve a closer look.

Games

At Stake we can find more than 2000 unique game titles spread throughout the categories of slots, table games, Stake originals, and live casino. While the number of games offered isn’t the highest we’ve seen, the quality of the games appears to have been prioritized. You can find RTP (return-to-player) games all the way up to 99%. There are a couple of features that can be used to navigate the game lists. First of all, you can sort the lists by displaying only games from a specific game provider. Further, you can sort the games by popularity or the games that Stake themselves want to feature. Lastly, you can simply use the search bar to directly search for a game you’re looking for.

All of the big casino game providers like Evolution Gaming, Pragmatic Play, and Hacksaw Gaming are making a showing when scrolling the lists of games. Slots, table games, and live casino are what we’re used to finding in virtually every online casino. What’s new and perhaps the games that are played the most on the site are found in the “Stake originals” section. These games are a relatively new addition that we’ve started to see more often in casinos over the past few years. Popular games in this category are crash, dice, and plinko, as well as some more traditional games like roulette or blackjack. Why these have become immensely popular deserves a topic of its own and shall be covered soon. There’s also a complete sportsbook on Stake. Let’s dive into each of the game categories found on Stake to see what’s being offered.

Casino

In this section, you are going to find more than 2000 games divided between slots and table games. 95% of these games are found in the slots section. Although being presented with many games at once, the interface of Stake displays all of them clearly and clutter-free. Each slot is presented with its name and who’s made it. Pragmatic Play, who are pretty much the kings of slots, are on full display with their games. We do, however, find other big game providers like Nolimit City, Hacksaw Gaming, and Yggdrasil in the list of slots as well. Below the slots, you can simply press the game provider you want to try games from to have only these displayed. You can also scroll a little bit further down to see which games other people are playing and their wins, which could be used as inspiration. Some of the most popular slots that we find in this category are:

  • Wanted Dead Or A Wild
  • Gates Of Olympus
  • Hand Of Anubis

Once you’ve chosen a slot you want to play you can either try a demo version of it or play with real money right away. There’s a short description of the slot once you’ve entered it and the house edge is being displayed. Use this to your advantage to pick a slot with the least house edge to increase the odds of coming out on top. You can also filter out winners of this specific slot to get a glimpse into how the winnings are divided and what kind of volatility the slot presents.

We continue to the table games section of Stake’s casino. We’re presented with many live casino options here, Evolution gaming in particular. If we instead focus on the table games that are not live, we find that the options are a little bit limited. Blackjack, roulette, and baccarat are the games that are the most popular in this section. It appears that Stake has focused on their original games the most and they present one edition of each of these games. Bgaming are the creators behind a couple of the games like blackjack, roulette as well as some variations of poker that are found here. Overall the selection and variety of table games that are not live are a little lackluster and we could definitely see some improvements here.

Stake originals

This is probably going to be the most intriguing section of games to review. Stake were one of the first casinos to market a section of games that were made by themselves. On Stake these are found under the “Stake originals” category. Some of the games in this category have now been copied by other casino sites, like the very popular “crash” and “dice” games. The category hosts 17 games and one of the bigger benefits to the player is that since Stake has made the games themselves, they can also decide what kind of house edge they want to have. These kinds of categories are known for having a lower house edge than other traditional games in casinos which is what most players are looking for when they want to do some gambling. Let’s further explain some of the most played of these:

  • Dice is very simple in its rules. On a bar from 0 to 100 you decide the level of risk you want to take in the game. Putting the slider on a higher number represents a higher risk of losing your wager but at the same time increases the potential winning payout. Below the bar, you find the math explained. In the three boxes that you find here you’re told what multiplier of your bet is, what’s the smallest number you need to roll with the dice to win as well as your overall chance of winning. If you put the slider on the number 50 this means you need to roll over 50 to win the bet and the multiplier of the bet is almost exactly 2x your wager since it’s basically a 50/50. Increasing the slider to the number 75 means you’ve to roll over 75 to win which is a 25% chance and thus rewards almost 4x your wager if hit. The house edge or fee of this game is 1%.
  • Crash is perhaps the most played game on Stake and has started to become a real staple in casinos all around the place. In this game, your objective is to watch the little ball transcend in the graph and steadily increase the payout of a player’s bet. You need to press the cash-out button before the ball and graph suddenly crashes and leave you without any winnings. There are different strategies to implement here. Some players bet small and try to hit a bigger multiplier while others bet bigger but cash out earlier to secure a win. The house edge again is only 1%, which is a low number when compared to any casino game.
  • Plinko is another game that’s on the rise. In a pyramid of obstacles, your ball is trying to reach the bottom. At the bottom, there are different payouts waiting. First, you need to decide the level of risk you want to take. Low, medium, or high. You can also decide the number of rows in the game in order to increase or decrease the potential payouts. At the lowest risk and with the lowest amount of rows you can only win 5.6x your bet. At the highest risk and with the highest amount of rows you can win up to 1000x your bet. It’s quite addicting to watch the ball make its way down the pyramid and one game is over in a couple of seconds. 1% is the house edge of this game as well which appears to be the fee of most of the original games.
  • Mines is inspired by the classic game minesweeper but comes in an easier-to-play edition. There are 25 squares in this game and you can yourself decide how many mines you want to add to the game. The objective is to find the one diamond that’s hidden below one of the squares. You can add up to 24 mines into the game which means every square but the diamond would result in a loss of your wager. More mines result in a higher payout if you were to find the diamond. 1% house edge.
  • Blackjack/Roulette/Baccarat is also part of Stake’s original games and these traditional games doesn’t need as much of an introduction as the other newer ones. The advantages of playing these versions of table games are mainly the lower house edge and the simplified graphics.

Live casino

Transitioning into the ever-growing live casino genre. We find about 50 games in this section. A number that differs a bit depending on what country you’re accessing the site from. Evolution Gaming and Pragmatic Play are the game providers behind pretty much all of the titles. Both of which are known for making great live casino games. Most of the games are blackjack, baccarat, and roulette variations but we can also find more niched games like “monopoly” and “deal or no deal”.

Sports

Moving on to the sportsbook at Stake. It’s a complete sportsbook in the sense that it hosts odds on everything we’re used to finding bets on. We find the traditional sports like soccer, tennis, or basketball but also some less common betting options like:

  • Esports
  • Waterpolo
  • Politics
  • Futsal

You can filter the sportsbooks different odds for live events, events starting soon, or future events. We find that the amount of betting options on each game is sufficient and the variety is good.

Mobile casino

If you prefer to do your gambling on a mobile device, Stake has this option as well. They have no app but their website works in a similar way when accessed on a mobile phone or tablet instead. Everything has been rescaled for your device and you should find access to the same list of games and functions here. Mobile gambling is on the rise and is now the most popular way of gambling.

Bonuses

Stake doesn’t have any traditional welcome bonuses of matching your first deposits but hosts an array of other bonus options. If you navigate to the “Promotions” page you can find event-specific bonuses, races and challenges. The promotions are divided into the categories of either sports or casinos. Sometimes the bonus apply for both categories.

Examples of current promotions are the weekly giveaway where Stake gives away 50 000$ that’s split between 10 players of their games. To secure a ticket into this giveaway you need to wager at least 1000$ in one of the games on the site. There are also daily races that for example reward 5000 players on the daily leaderboards with a total of 100 000$ in prizes. Some game providers have added their own game-specific giveaways. Basically, there are many bonuses found spread throughout the games. We find more than 20 different bonus options at the time of writing this. These are due to change, check in with the “Promotions” page to see what’s currently available for you in terms of bonuses.

Banking

Since Stake is pretty much an all-out crypto casino we expect to find many transaction options for this method. More than 130 coins are currently accepted and the list is still growing. This would definitely qualify a casino as crypto transaction approved by our standards.

If you wish to deposit with FIAT, this can be done through Stake’s own conversion from FIAT into cryptocurrencies directly on the website. Since the transactions on Stake are mostly done with cryptocurrencies, they will be close to instant in their speed. There are some added fees when making transactions, that differ slightly depending on what currency or method you’ve chosen.

Support

Stake’s website can be translated and read in 15 different languages. If you want to contact support this is easiest done by using the live chat, which is available at your disposal 24/7. You can also use email to contact support: support@stake. In the help center of the website, you can find a couple of articles that explain subjects that players normally have questions about. They also have a short FAQ here that answers some of the most commonly asked questions. Give this section a quick glance if you have a question or use the live chat right away to get a quick response to your question. There is also a blog on the website where players can read articles on various gambling-related topics.

Summary

Stake has been quite the pleasure to review through and through. There’s not much bad to say about this popular casino, and there’s not really anyone else saying bad things about them neither. They are showing great knowledge and expertise through their website’s simplistic and well-thought design. The games are presented nicely and the variety is good in the games section. The “Stake originals” games are addicting and host a lower fee than your traditional casino games. We can also find a full sportsbook with odds on virtually anything. The interface can be read in many languages and support is offered 24/7. They support transactions with almost any cryptocurrency on the market. Stake’s gaming license, popularity with casino players, and reputation are all key factors that make you feel safe when gambling here. The staff at CryptoCasinos will follow their progress closely in the coming years and expect them to continue delivering on all fronts.

Can I deposit using cryptocurrency on Stake.com?
